The World of Dogs is a dedicated area for every dog lover. With arena displays, fun dog shows, multi scurry and chase the bunny there is plenty for your dog to take part in and enjoy!
Waggy Tails – Fun Dog Show
Twenty classes for dogs of any breed, size or age. From junior handlers through to prettiest bitch, waggiest tail and the infamous fancy dress class, there is something for every dog.
Bookings are taken all day and judging starts at 1.30pm. Our aim is to put the FUN back into dog shows. We do not take ourselves seriously at all, so don’t worry if your dog doesn’t either!
Please note fancy dress for you and your dog optional – Good Luck
Jixenwell Gundog Scurries
Come and test your dog’s retrieving skills at the Jixenwell Gundog Scurries, a fun and friendly competition open to dogs of all abilities.
With a range of events designed for everyone from complete beginners to experienced competitors, the scurries are a great opportunity to challenge your dog and enjoy some fast-paced action in the arena.
Events include:
• Bales
There is also a Non-Gundog class, meaning all breeds are welcome to come and have a go.
Alongside the main scurry events, competitors can also enter the Jixenwell Challenge Qualifier and Daily Challenge. These competitions are designed to bridge the gap between traditional scurries and working tests, creating a slightly more technical retrieving challenge while still keeping the events fun and entertaining for both competitors and spectators.
Entry is on the day (cash only) and no pre-booking is required.
Whether you have a trained gundog or simply want to try something new with your dog, everyone is welcome to take part.
Come and watch the action or have a go with your own dog.
Have a go AGILITY
Come along with your dog, no experience necessary.
Our instructors will guide you around our flowing course over jumps, through tunnels and over the dog walk. Fenced and gated rings, suitable for dogs 12 months and over.
Have a go HOOPERS
This activity is great fun and ideal for dogs of all ages from puppies (4 months plus) to the senior dogs. No experience necessary as our instructors will explain everything and help you navigate your dog around the course. We have hoops to run under, tunnels to run through and barrels to run round. Fenced and gated ring.
Lurchers
Welcome to Lure Crazy, we run field events and showing for Lurchers and Whippets so whether you’ve competed before or are completely new to it, we’re here to provide the fun!
In the morning we have racing field events that include straight racing, simulated coursing or, if there’s no room for coursing, hurdles and our infamous 100m timed dash where dogs run solo and get timed. The target is to see if we have a dog than can run the 100m in less than 6 seconds!!
The afternoon at approximately 2.30pm we start our lurcher and whippet show. There are a variety of categories and concludes with a championship for all the winners.
For each field event we present a trophy and rosette for the winner and a rosette for the reserve place. In the show ring there are rosettes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and a Champion trophy.
For any breed of dog that ‘isn’t’ sight hound related we have Chase the Bunny (usually around 4.30pm) where the dogs chase the lure around the ring in a big dog/small dog competition culminating in a big dog and little dog final. It’s free to enter and gives your dog a chance to have a good run before the journey home.
And if you don’t have a dog – well come and join us anyway as it really is wonderful to see lurchers and whippets doing what they love and running extremely fast. Chase the Bunny will probably be one of the funniest and most entertaining events that you will remember for a long time.
Any questions then please feel free to join our Lure Crazy facebook page – we’re here to help!

Chase the Bunny
If your dog loves to chase this could be their moment! Dogs are matched to general size and speed and race to chase the lure around the arena. Great fun to both take part in and to watch – especially when the dogs run in completely the opposite direction, or find a more interesting smell.
Individual Minor Breeds
We have a variety of minor breeds, from manchester terriers through Australian terriers, Otterhounds and Lancashire Heelers to name but a few. Come and meet some of these lesser known breeds; make a new friend and ask their expert and enthusiastic handlers any questions you might have.
WhipCurl Canine Resolve & Rare Breed Gundogs
Judy Hempstead of WhipCurl Canine Resolve has been running gundog demonstrations, training sessions, parades & gundog pavilions for the Minority Gundog Breeds
Doggy Shopping
Your dog will want you to do some shopping around the World Of Dogs Arena where we have every possible treat for the well deserving pampered pooch, as well as a few for their owners!
Minor Breeds Marquee.
Come along and see the various minors breeds in our World of Dogs section of the show. This includes dogs that are professionally breed with some rare and unusual types from long haired, short, curly haired, small dogs, big dogs and all different types fo dogs.
Some of which often exhibit at Cruft’s and other recognised dog breed events.
It’s a great chance to visit them and learn about the different breeds, met the owners and get advice.
Please note breeds may vary from show to show
