At all of our events there is a chainsaw carving area with around six of the most talented chainsaw carvers from around the country. Unless the event has a Chainsaw Competition as a main feature as part of the show like the Cheshire Game and Country Fair and the Sandringham Food, Craft and Wood Festival.
Here you will find a large number of chainsaw carvers ranging from 15 – 25 with some being invited from other countries including Ireland, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic, Wales, Scotland and the Ukraine.
In this area each of the chainsaw carvers will have their own pen and marquee where they will be demonstrating their skills and producing a masterpiece over the weekend. Here you can buy a wide range of quality sculptures and talk to the chainsaw carvers that produced them.
Each day there will be at least two speed carves in the chainsaw carving arena, this is a timed event where carvers have 30 minutes to produce a sculpture. A race against the clock – after which the carvings are all entered into the speed carve auction.
This is a great bit of fun with bargains to be had – a great way to purchase a carving produced in front of your very eyes.
In the final speed carve auction of the show the main sculptures that have been produced over the weekend will be entered into the final auction. A chance to purchase a wonderful masterpiece a credit to anyone’s garden.
Chainsaw Competitions
At some of our events there may be a special event containing a chainsaw competition. Please see individual shows for further details.
The Chainsaw Competitions are larger and may include international chainsaw carvers from Europe, USA, Japan and even Australia. In the past the English Open Chainsaw Competition held at Cheshire Game and Country Fair – August Bank Holiday has attracted around 15 carvers. The carvings are produced over two or three days and judged with the winners being announced on the final day of the show.
After the winners are announced a large auction takes place for all of the competition pieces.
Since Covid-19 the competitions have changed somewhat and have varied with the English Open being replaced with The Best of British – A competition with British based chainsaw carvers only with a few invited overseas carvers.
Please watch out for future competitions and details.
